ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Rockcastle County Emergency Management tells LEX 18 that floodwater in Brodhead is several feet deep in some parts.

There is water in front of City Hall and Citizens National Bank. Officials say water is across much of Highway 1505. The water along 1505 was up to the middle of the front door on some houses.

The fire department is setting up roadblocks. They said they haven’t had to rescue any people, but they did rescue a dog that was on its dog house in the yard.

The chief said that the Dix River has several rivers that feed into it.

There are cracks in some bridges and roads from the flooding.

The National Weather Service said that 4.5 inches of rain was recorded between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., four of which fell before 6:30 p.m. Water was reported inside of six businesses, one church, and City Hall. Two storage buildings were washed off their foundations. Six to ten mobile homes were damaged. Flood waters washed out blacktop on one road and at some point, seven city streets, two county roads, and three state highways were underwater.
