Lexington Recycling Center Expected To Reopen Monday

Posted

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A broken machine forced the Lexington Recycling Center to shut down on for a couple of days as they waited for a replacement part.

The part did not arrive Friday as expected and is now scheduled to arrive on Monday morning.

If the part arrives Monday morning, it will be installed and the center will begin processing materials. If the part is delayed, materials collected on Monday will be diverted to a landfill.

Waste Management drivers will still collect carts that are placed out on Monday. Residents may opt to hold their carts until next week if they want to be certain that the center is processing the material.

The machine that is broken separates aluminum cans from other materials.

Lexington’s recycle center accepts: dry cardboard, aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles and jugs with a screwtop neck, glass bottles and jars.
