MARION COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– The Marion County School District is making sure that every child has a meal to eat and a chance to learn this summer.

The Dream Bus hits the road twice a day, five times a week, to bring food and lessons to kids all across the county.

The Dream Bus became a reality five years ago. Everything from the design on the outside to the cabinetry and set up on the inside was created by students. The bus has wi-fi and books for all of the lessons the teachers on board teach.

“I don’t care how old you are you like a book read to you. So I liked reading books, I love dancing with them, I love hanging out with them,” said Dream Bus Josie Brockman.

The bus is for kids from kindergarten through high school. It doesn’t just help keep bellies full and minds stimulated, it also helps kids and their parents build a better relationship with the school district.

“It turns into a family affair about learning, and leading, and making sure kids get a good meal,” said Superintendent Taylora Schlosser.
