POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Cars were partially submerged near Lil’ Abner’s Motel and Cottages and Miguels Restaurant Thursday.

The National Weather Service reported that parts of Highway 11 in Slade had 6 inches of water travelling across them.

Lil’ Abner’s Motel Owner Billy Abner told LEX 18 that employees spent most of the day sweeping and power washing the parking lot Friday. He said that in more than 40 years, he has never seen high waters reach his motel rooms. He said he came within inches of breaking his lucky record.

He said that Lil’ Abners is open for business.

Photos from viewers also showed high water flowing over Campton Road at the Go Time Gas Station and Park and Ride off the Slade exit of the Mountain Parkway.
