LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A trial date has been set for a former University of Kentucky student accused in a fatal collision with a four-year-old pedestrian.

Jacob Heil faces one count of reckless homicide in a deadly collision after a UK football game on September 15, 2018.

Police say Heil was driving on Cooper Drive when a witness claims his car suddenly swerved to the right, leaving the roadway. That is when he reportedly hit 4-year-old Marco Shemwell.

Shemwell died a few days after the crash.

In Court Friday, a judge set Heil’s trial date for April 6-9 2020.
