ERLANGER, Ky. (LEX 18) – Police say one man is arrested after SWAT teams had to respond to a home in Boone County.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office says Derek Gibson was wanted in relation to a domestic violence incident with his ex-girlfriend.

Police say they received a report on Saturday that he had allegedly broken into her home, and poured gasoline inside.

Officers who went to investigate were unable to find him after a four-hour search.

Then, just after 8:30 Saturday night, police received a tip that he was seen going into his ex-girlfriend’s house, who wasn’t home at the time.

A SWAT team set up a perimeter around the home, and negotiators tried making contact, but were unsuccessful after six hours.

That’s when the team went inside the home, and found Gibson in the attic.

He was taken into custody on the original warrant.
