MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Kentucky State Police executed search warrants on three Madison County businesses that they say were operating as fronts for illegal gambling.

The initial investigation began after a complaint regarding the fraudulent use of an EBT card to purchase soft drinks and chips for patrons of the cafes as they played games.

The businesses are T&T Entertainment, Richmond Internet Café, and the All-In Internet Café. They have been under investigation since March 2018, according to KSP.

The KSP Special Investigations East Task Force told LEX 18 that the cafes are not regulated like regular casinos and the concern they have is that the patrons are being cheated by the software, potentially allowing the owners to make a significant amount of money.

They also say that these internet cafes are not the only ones they are looking into.

The investigation continues and possible charges are pending.

Locals tell LEX 18 that police spent hours outside of one of the cafes carrying computers and equipment out of the building.

One woman told LEX 18 that she won up to $2,000 on a given day, and others claim to have won tens of thousands of dollars.
