LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– The court ordered a competency case assessment for a man arrested earlier this month after he reportedly pointed an Airsoft Rifle at people in downtown Lexington.

Police say that around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 2,  they responded to a report of a man wearing camouflage and pointing a weapon at people near Short Street and Broadway.

Witnesses originally thought 27-year-old Josiah D. White had an AR-15 rifle, but officers determined it was an Airsoft Rifle.

White was arrested and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

He entered a not guilty plea in court on Thursday. A hearing is scheduled for June 20 at 10 a.m.

White showed up to court nearly two hours after he was scheduled to be arraigned. The judge had even briefly issued a warrant for his arrest. White shrugged that off saying that he came straight to court after waking up.
