LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Goodwill Industries of Kentucky has partnered with the Lexington VA Healthcare System in an effort to better serve veterans in central and eastern Kentucky.
The partnership combines the efforts, resources and ideas of both organizations. Goodwill has committed to providing vouchers in $10 increments, totalling $30,000 a year to the Lexington VA.
“The VA services are going to be provided through Somerset, Morehead, Hazard and Berea,” said Devone Holt, vice president of external affairs for Goodwill Industries of Kentucky. “Those areas, in addition to Lexington, all have VA social workers that are working with veterans in those communities to help them, and to help us identify veterans that are in need of these resources and supports and collectively, then we will find ways to support them, to move them again into areas of self-sufficiency.”
Leaders say they hope to expand the program across the state.
