PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Two people are dead following a crash in Pulaski County.
It happened around 6:30 a.m. Monday on US 27 South in downtown Burnside.
According to the sheriff’s department, a 5-year-old and her grandmother have died following a head-on collision.
The grandmother has been identified by the sheriff’s office as Deanna Jean Chaney, 42, of Eubank. She was pronounced dead at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. The child was identified by the Fayette County coroner as Kyleigh Hobbs.Hobbs died at UK Medical Center.
The sheriff’s office said that Chaney’s vehicle was headed southbound on Highway 27 when it was hit head on by an SUV. The SUV was driven by 41-year-old Brandy C. Montgomery, of Pine Knot. Her vehicle was headed northbound when the sheriff’s office said it crossed into the soundbound lane.
Montgomery was transferred to UK Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
