Sav’s Grill To Close After 11 Years Of Business

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – After 11 years in Lexington, Sav’s Grill & West African Cuisine is closing.

Mamadou Savané made the announcement via Facebook. He did write that something new was coming and implied in Facebook comments that new restaurant would be opening elsewhere.

Sav says THANK YOU LEXINGTON! Sav’s Grill is closed after almost 11 years. Something new is coming. Stay tuned!

Lexington rallied around the restaurant owner after he suffered severe burns from dropping boiling peanut oil on himself in a 2014 workplace accident. Fans of the restaurant raised over $50,000 for medical bills and expenses related to running the business in his absence.

Sav opened his grill in 2008. His ice cream shop, Sav’s Chill, will remain open. The hours for Chill are Sunday through Wednesday 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday through 1 p.m. – 10 p.m.
