STANVILLE, Ky. (Mountain Top News) – A giant statue of Abraham Lincoln that once set outside the sprawling law complex belonging to a disgraced former attorney will be moved to a Civil War Battlefield in Floyd County.
On Tuesday, the sale of nearly 10 acres adjacent to US 23 in Stanville, including the former law complex of imprisoned former attorney Eric C. Conn, was finalized.
Conn was sentenced for his role in a multi-million dollar social security fraud scheme last year.
The new owner, Jerry Flannery of Four J Development, has agreed to donate the replica of the Lincoln Memorial on the property to Floyd County.
Floyd County Judge Executive Robert Williams says the statue will soon be moved to its new home at the Middle Creek National Battlefield just outside Prestonsburg.
