STANTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – The family of a 10-year-old girl killed in a crash in Powell County is raising funds for her funeral.

According to deputies, the girl was in a vehicle with her friend and her father. The father was coming up to the intersection of Boone and 213 in Stanton when he hit his breaks before hitting gravel that floodwaters had carried into the roadway.

Unfortunately, the gravel made the car spin out of control and into the path of an oncoming truck.

10-year-old McKayla Lynn Wachter was pronounced dead on the scene. The 6-year-old was airlifted to UK hospital.

Wachter’s mother thanked people for support in the Facebook fundraiser, “I just want to thank everyone that has supported me and my family and especially my little girl. She was loved by many. She always had a smile on her face. She never met a stranger she was always so polite and she loved going to church and knowing about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I’m glad that I was able to take her and her brothers to church. She was loved by so many and she will be missed dearly. I just can’t thank everyone enough for the outpouring of love for my lovely and beautiful angel. I love you pumpkin, you will always be my little pumpkin doodle.”
