LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – This morning a man is behind bars in Lexington after police say a road rage incident led to shots being fired.

Trey Whitaker Blackburn, 19, is charged with first degree wanton endangerment after authorities say he fired his gun from his SUV Thursday afternoon while driving in the outbound lanes of Tates Creek.

According to arrest citation, someone in a black car threw a soda at the SUV and that’s when the driver of the SUV fired about six rounds from a handgun toward the car.

Police later found the SUV on Laredo Road and arrested Blackburn.

What provoked the soda being thrown is unknown. Blackburn will make a court appearance Friday in Fayette County court.
