BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police were investigating after a deputy jailer fired his gun at an alleged attacker.

Investigators said 20-year-old Dylon Kirby confronted members of a jail work crew Thursday at a job site.

According to an arrest report, supervising Deputy Jailer Chris Troutman grew concerned about Kirby’s actions and requested assistance from Bowling Green police.

When police arrived, authorities said, Kirby threw a rock at the cruiser’s window. He then allegedly picked the rock back up and approached Troutman.

Authorities say Troutman fired at Kirby, missing him. Kirby then ran and jumped from a bridge, officials said, before he was captured.

Kirby faces several charges, including assault and wanton endangerment.
