6 hospitalized after serious head-on crash in Clay City

CLAY CITY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Powell County volunteer firefighter reported that six people were hospitalized after a serious head-on collision in Clay City Wednesday morning.

The offiicial detailed that the crash happened at around 9 a.m. on Irvin Road when a Lexus and white van collided head-on.

One woman was reportedly ejected from the car, however, she only sustained minor injuries. The other victims suffered leg and back injuries. The driver of the Lexus reportedly suffered "significant injuries" and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The two men in the van also sustained injuries, officials reported. They were stabilized by paramedics and then taken to a hospital for further aid.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
