LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — While being healthy at home, many have been getting fresh air by walking or biking. AAA is reminding us that we can do that safely by offering simple tips that could save a life.

Last year in Kentucky, there were 342 crashes involving bicycles and 79 pedestrians killed. AAA says nationally there has been a 6% increase in bicycle accidents.

AAA wants to stop you from becoming another statistic. To keep yourself safe, do things like wear a helmet, keep your bike maintained and obey traffic laws.

Also, wear bright colors, even if it is during the day.

Even if you're a pedestrian, you still shouldn't be on your phone when crossing.
