LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — In year's past, country music lovers could enjoy 'Acoustic Jam' at the Lexington Opera House. This year, to follow social distancing guidelines, it will be held at Rupp Arena.

Headliner Brantley Gilbert, alongside Riley Green, Russell Dickerson and Dylan Scott will be playing at Rupp Arena on Friday. This will be the first live music event at Rupp Arena since the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We were able to work with the governor's office, to get this set up to where we were able to do 2,800 people. And if you've ever been to a George Strait concert, it's set up the same way. With the stage in the middle of the floor, and people all the way around it," Director of Arena Management Carl Hall said.

The biggest difference concert goers will experience? You won't be in a crowd because tickets are being sold in pairs.

"The pods are scattered throughout, 6-foot distance between each pod," Hall said.

At the entrance, concert goers will get their temperature checked and go through a health screening and security.

"You will know our usher staff will be more proactive, walking up and down the aisles to ensure that you stay in the seats that you purchased. That you are wearing a face mask the whole time and the only time you're not is when you're actively, and that's the key word, actively eating or drinking," Hall said.

With only a couple hundred tickets left, Acoustic Jam organizers anticipate the concert being a huge success. As for more music events like this being held, well, that's up to the concert goers following the rules.

"Hopefully, participation and cooperation from everyone, this can become every six weeks, two months, somewhere in that range, where a similar type show can be produced," Hall said.
