WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — On June 14, 66-year old Woodford County man David Clark was found shot and killed in his home.

Now, over four months later, Versailles Police Department have made an arrest in the case charging 64-year old Vicki Brautigan with two counts of Attempted Murder, Burglary (1st degree), and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

This recent arrest has been a relief for friends and family of David Clark.

"These months of not knowing what had happened to him, I had a hard time grasping why somebody would do this to him," says longtime friend Marlene Simpson.

Simpson saw David the night before he died, which still haunts her.

Simpson said that David loved farming, his children, and grandchildren.

"That's all he talked about were his children and grandchildren," Simpson said. "He lived for them I know that it's devastating for them, but to have closure for them is probably a relief but it doesn't change the fact that their dad is gone," says Simpson.

Police did confirm with us that Brautigan and Clark had previously had a relationship. Brautigan is being held at the Montgomery County Jail pending extradition back to Kentucky.
