MIDWAY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The community is planning a benefit concert and blood drive to honor a Woodford County woman fighting for her life after she was stabbed more than two dozen times.

Police say that on October 6, Katy McDaniel was found stabbed in her home. Her husband, Kenneth "Doug" McDaniel, was later found in Indiana, where officers say they discovered blood in his car. Police say Katy identified her husband as her attacker.

Her family and friends tell LEX 18 that they are shocked by the vicious attack on the young mother.

According to an event posted to Facebook, a concert and blood drive benefit is set for Sunday, November 3 at Northside Elementary School. It will benefit Katy's recovery and honor her strength. Organizers of the event say all proceeds will go to Katy.

On Monday, Kenneth pleaded not guilty to assault.

Judge Mary Jane Phelps, who performed the couple's marriage ceremony, raised Kenneth's bond to $250,000.
