TAYLORSVILLE, Ky. (Anderson News) — The body of an Anderson County man was found hours after his vehicle was pulled from flood waters near Taylorsville Lake.

According to the Anderson County News, Obed Drury, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene. Taylorsville firefighters were first called to the lake's marina for reports of an abandoned vehicle. Fire crews pulled the vehicle out of the water and performed a search.

Troopers with KSP also arrived on scene to conduct a more extensive search of the area. Volunteers walked the flooded area. Drury's body was found about 125 feet from where the truck had been located.

Officials told Anderson County News that the victim’s vehicle was not fully submerged in water and that it appeared that the man got out of the vehicle and may have tried to walk to dry land. He speculated he may have tried to walked toward the lights of the marina, which would have taken him into gradually deeper water.
