WILMORE, Ky. (LEX 18) — Solomon's Porch Cafe is back up and running after a car crashed through its front window Saturday afternoon.

"Someone yelped," owner Erin Gibson said. "That got my attention. And then a car came through."

For a moment, Gibson thought the crash would put her out of business.

However, just as quickly as that thought came, it went, because people in the community hurried to pitch in and help repair the damage.

"They cleaned it up," Gibson said. "We got a wall built. The wreck happened around one and we were reopened around 4:15."

The car plowed into an area of the cafe where regular, Joe Dongell, sits every day.

He wasn't there at the time of the crash, and he is thankful for that.

"I'm just thankful that I didn't happen to be here in my spot when the accident happened," Dongell said.

Despite what happened in "his spot", you'll find Dongell hasn't changed his routine. He said he plans to keep sitting there every day.

"Chances the same thing happening exactly are so remote that I kind of view this chair as the safest place in the whole universe for me right now," Dongell said.

Dongell and the owner agree that it was a miracle no one was injured in the crash.

Gibson said she's waiting for the insurance company to get back to her before deciding what will happen next, but she said she has faith that everything will work out and be back to normal soon.
