ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — With the sun in the sky and American flags on the backs of bikes ready to catch the wind, the Central Kentucky Riders group met up in Mt. Vernon Saturday afternoon for a holiday ride.
"We've been together about a year and it's grown,” said founder Jason Kirby. “We had about six people and we're up to about forty now. So, it's growing very fast and we're tickled to death."
They rode through Mt. Vernon, Berea, Richmond and Irvine for fun and to send a message about coming together as one during what Kirby calls troubled times.
"We just want people to know that there are some people out here that are still together and we want them to come back together,” he said. “We all believe in the flag and we all believe in our country and we just want to be patriotic."
The group hopes to make the July 4th ride an annual event and continue showing how riding can bring people together.
"You could pull into a Shell station and there are two more riders there, you've got a common ground and you can go up and say, 'Hey man, I like your bike.' Everybody is friendly and everybody is nice. There are no worries about anything, just friendliness,” said Kirby.
