LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Lexington Recycling Center is closing Monday, April 13, but officials say they expect curbside recycling for homes and businesses to restart sooner than originally expected.
Officials say this is thanks to Machinex Technologies, the company that manufactured the processing equipment at the center.
Machinex is working with the Lexington Recycling Center to fix equipment and get everything back up and running as quickly as possible.
City officials announced the Recycling Center would close for weeks due to a broken shaft. When
“We will still have to close, but it may not take as long to get us up and operating as we originally thought. As soon as we have a new date we will make it public,” Nancy Albright, Lexington’s Commissioner of Environmental Quality and Public Works said. “Citizens should be able to store recyclables at their homes until we’re ready to start picking them up again.”
