GEORGETOWN, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Scott County Sheriff's deputy is under administrative review and possibly faces punishment after some of his social media posts were reported as offensive and unprofessional. A concerned citizen is outraged more action hasn't been taken.

Some of the Facebook posts in question contained captions that are allegedly sexually and racially charged, featuring politicians like Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden. LEX 18 blurred out the language that's considered offensive. Some of the posts were arguably too graphic to show.

Sheriff Tony Hampton says Deputy Keith Gibson has been in law enforcement for more than 10 years and with his office since 2019.

Ronnie, a long time Scott County resident, says when deputy made the posts on social media, he broke his oaths.

"The fulfillment of his duties and according to the office of the law, his purpose is to treat everyone with dignity and compassion, he's not guided by the principles of justice, no fairness, no honesty," Ronnie said.

The Sheriff says if he is found to have violated their social media policy, Gibson will be subject to discipline and/or re-training. But Ronnie says he believes that isn't enough.

"You can't trust him. Say if you pull me over, his judgment is way off course. You know, my life is in danger," Ronnie said.

LEX 18 once again reached out to the Scott County Sheriff's Office but they had no further comment than the statement they released Wednesday.
