Coroner identifies man found shot on Pea Ridge Road

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police are investigating after a man died Tuesday morning on Pea Ridge Road.

KSP said that the Franklin County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 hang up call from a residence on Pea Ridge Road, and they responded to the scene. When deputies arrived, they found a man with life-threatening injuries in the home. He succumbed to his injuries. Coroner William Harrod says that the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:47 a.m. Tuesday.

The Franklin County Coroner's Office has identified the man as Ronald D. Thornton, 73, of Frankfort.

According to the coroner, a postmortem exam indicates Thornton sustained multiple gun shot wounds that resulted in his death. An autopsy is scheduled for later today.
