LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Fayette County Coroner has identified the man found dead under an overpass Friday morning.
Coroner Gary Ginn tells LEX 18 that the man has been identified as Jerry Wayne Johnson, 59. Johnson was found under the I-75 overpass at Winchester Road. He was unresponsive and later declared dead.
Freezing temperatures during one of the coldest blasts of the season are being blamed. Johnson's cause of death is listed as hypothermia.
There are multiple resources available during cold temperatures. The Catholic Action Center runs the Compassionate Caravan, which transports homeless individuals to warming shelters.
