Coroner identifies person killed in crash on I-75 northbound in Georgetown

The Scott County Coroner's Office has identified the person killed in a single-vehicle crash on I-75 northbound in Georgetown on Sunday evening.

According to the coroner's office, 63-year-old Wesley Keith Richie from Lexington died at the scene.

One person has died as a result of a single-vehicle crash on I-75 northbound in Georgetown on Sunday evening, according to the Scott County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say they were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on I-75 northbound near Lemons Mill Road in Georgetown around 5:17 p.m. on Sunday, and the crash was likely caused by speeding.

Crews arrived on scene around 5:23 p.m., and deputies say the Scott County coroner confirmed the driver was deceased at the time of arrival. The identity of the person is currently unknown.

It's believed that the vehicle somehow veered to the right side, hit the rock embankment, flipped over, and slid into a guardrail, according to Scott County Sheriff's Deputies.

Deputies say there was no sign of alcohol during the initial investigation.
