LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington Fire Department Maj. Mark Samuelson praised staff at the Richmond Place Senior Living Community for their quick action after a fire broke out Tuesday at the facility.

Samuelson said an off-duty Clark County firefighter was one of the first to notice the flames at about noon and assisted in evacuating residents.

Staff at Richmond Place were able to move residents to another building on the property while fire crews worked to put out the flames.

Samuelson said a couple of people were being checked out for smoke inhalation, but that no major injuries were reported.
