Danville Police: Man shot in leg

DANVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police in Danville tell LEX 18 that a person was shot in the leg Wednesday.

Officers were dispatched around 5:40 p.m. at 4th Street and High Street in Danville.

Officers at the scene found 35-year-old Keith L. Stallworth, of Danville, who had been shot in the leg. Police said that 22-year-old William R. Hargis, of Lexington, surrendered to officers without incident.

Witnesses tell police that Hargis was at the corner of Fourth and High on a motorcycle when Stallworth pulled up in a pickup truck and a physical altercation started. Hargis fired two rounds during the altercation, at least one hit Stallworth in the leg.

He was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Hargis was arrested and charged with assault, 1st. He is in the Boyle County Detention Center.
