LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — In honor of the late Superintendent Manny Caulk, students from six high schools in Fayette County are working together to host a toy drive for FCPS elementary school students in need this holiday season.

"This one spoke to me because I knew Manny on a personal level," said Bryson Berry, a senior at Frederick Douglass High School.

After a recent visit to the Angel Tree in the wake of Caulk's death, Berry felt compelled to act.

"I always looked up to him as a leader, as a servant of the community," he said. "So I could not think of a better way to honor him than to give back to the community."

As an ambassador and former class president at Frederick Douglass, Berry said Caulk exemplified strong leadership.

"He was just so gracious," Berry said. "I can only hope to be as gracious as he was one day."

Donations for the toy drive can be dropped off at the following high schools from December 10-16, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.:
