LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Lexington Fire Department has several crews on the scene of a fire on Loudon Avenue.

The street is blocked off between Shropshire Avenue and Maple Avenue while crews work.

Lexington FD says there are five apartments within the building. The fire started in an upstairs unit and spread.

One person was inside at the time but got out safely. No one was injured.

There are extra crews on the scene so they can work on rotation due to the heat.

Traffic will be affected while firefighters remain to monitor the situation.
