(LEX 18) — Gov. Matt Bevin has asked that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Monday in honor of a Kentucky serviceman who was killed in action during World War II.
Navy Fireman First Class Billy Johnson's remains were identified recently, decades after his death.
The 22-year-old from Caney, Kentucky was on board the USS Oklahoma when the ship was sunk by Japanese torpedoes.
Johnson's remains were among those exhumed in 2015 and were just recently confirmed to be his.
Johnson will be buried in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Monday.
