Foot pursuit leads to trafficking arrest

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A police chase on foot ends with two people arrested for drug trafficking.

The arrest happened after Lexington police officers tried to make a traffic stop on a suspected DUI near Yellowstone Parkway and Sterlington Road. Officers say the drive ran. Police set up a perimeter with K-9 units to search for him.

He was found in a yard behind a home on Leaning Tree Lane. The driver was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana and evading police. A passenger in the car was also charged with trafficking.

Police also found a handgun in the car.

The names of the suspects have not been released.
