ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A former deputy jailer in Rockcastle County is accused of ordering an attack on a defenseless inmate, then trying to cover it up.

The incident happened in March of 2018. According to a federal indictment, Deputy Jailer Derek Steven Clark had an inmate secured to a restraint chair and then ordered another inmate to assault him.

Afterward, Clark allegedly falsified a report in which he allegedly placed the blame for the attack on the victim. Clark is later accused of lying to an FBI investigator.

Clark has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy, aiding and abetting, deprivation of civil rights, obstruction of justice and making false statements.

His trial is scheduled to start in February.
