ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Estill County's former judge-executive was in court Friday where he pleaded guilty to the theft of $38,000 in funds from the county.

Wallace Taylor served for 15 years as judge-executive.

The state attorney general confirmed Taylor pleaded guilty to abuse of public trust.

Officials said Taylor was sentenced to a term of three years and diverted to a period of five years.

Investigators say Taylor wrote and cashed checks made out to himself using the county's money.
