MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (WPSD/LEX 18) — Four of the dozens of Chihuahuas found to be living in "extremely poor" conditions, went up for adoption Wednesday.

Many of the dogs found in the McCracken County late last month were covered in fleas, and suffering from tapeworms and dental disease.

WPSD reports that 42-year-old Jennifer Campbell and her 66-year-old father Harold Campbell were both charged with 43 counts of animal cruelty.

Jennifer Campbell said she never meant to hurt the animals.

"It just got out of control and I'm sorry," she said.

The dogs that are ready will be adopted on a first-come first-serve basis.
