FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — Action has been taken by the school district after a video posted to Facebook Monday appears to show a Franklin County school bus crossing over the yellow line on a windy road, according to Franklin County Schools Superintendent Mark Kopp.

In the video, a concerned parent narrates as the bus appears to cross into the opposite lane of traffic multiple times. According to Superintendent Kopp, no students were on board at the time.

"That does not take away from the fact that there are a couple of instances on the video when the driver crossed over the double yellow line," Kopp said.

"There were some weather conditions and some fogging conditions in the bus that weren't helping matters but we can do better and we have taken appropriate steps and actions with the driver to ensure that this won't happen again," he said.

Kopp would not elaborate on the steps the district has taken, citing privacy concerns with personnel matters.

But he said he was thankful the video was brought to his attention and that there was no accident.

"Sometimes there are mistakes that are made and the only way that you can correct mistakes is to correct mistakes," he said, "and in all honesty, I'm very happy that we were made aware of the situation so that we could investigate it and we could take appropriate action."
