FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Captured on video, you can hear a young girl call out "daddy" and run to her classroom door at Elkhorn Elementary in Frankfort. She jumps and hugs her dad, Dennis Hall, a soldier who came home just in time for the holidays.

"What a wonderful Christmas present for any child to receive from their father returning from serving their country,” said Mark Kopp, the superintendent of Franklin County Schools.

Facebook comments under the video, posted to the Franklin County Schools Facebook page, show how much it touched viewers. Some even wrote that it made them cry.

Hall also has another child at the school who got the same surprise that day.

Kopp says Hall will only be home for a few weeks before he has to return to duty. It will be a short, but certainly a memorable visit.

"I just think that's the true meaning of Christmas, to be with your family. The kids got to witness that moment too. It was just a special moment for the entire classroom. I think there were lots of tears, even from the adults,” said Sharla Six, the Assistant Superintendent for Franklin County Schools.
