LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The community has rallied around a Lexington police officer and his family that has seen their fair share of troubles over the past few years, including caring for a child with a very rare seizure disorder that has no cure.

Detective Joe Holland his family make frequent trips to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Recently, Holland's son, Kaiser, was put on a feeding tube because he is not able to eat.

Last year, the family's home was damaged by water, which led to mold. The family's insurance claims were denied and they moved into an RV parked in the driveway.

Detective Holland's wife, who is a registered nurse, took a leave of absence to care for her youngest son.

A fellow officer organized a GoFundMe for the family. So far, it has raised more than $32,000.
