FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — Gov. Andy Beshear on Monday ordered all flags at state office buildings be lowered to half-staff to honor the service and sacrifice of United States Capitol Police Officers Brian Sicknick and Howard Liebengood.

Sicknick died Thursday as a result of injuries sustained when supporters of President Donald Trump violently stormed the U.S. Capitol Wednesday.
Liebengood responded to the Capitol riots Wednesday and died off-duty on Saturday. A cause of death has not been given.
Beshear announced the decision to lower the flags Monday in accordance with a proclamation from the White House.
The proclamation will remain in effect until Wednesday at sunset.
