GRANT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Parents and students were reacting to news that a Grant County teacher is facing rape and sodomy charges after being accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy.

Deputies say 23-year-old Kendall Burk met the teenager several times off campus for sex.

Burk was arrested Wednesday and has been "removed from her duties," according to a letter sent out by the school district.

Burk was charged with four counts of rape and four counts of sodomy.

"I couldn't imagine what would make a girl who just graduated from college, why would she just risk everything to throw it away for a relationship or whatever you want to call it with a 15-year-old boy?" said parent Michelle Health.

Burk was scheduled to appear in court Sept. 9.
