BELFRY, Ky. (MTN) — Kentucky State Police are investigating after 30 graves were vandalized at a Pike County cemetery.
According to Mountain Top News, the vandalized graves were discovered at the Little Stone Old Regular Baptist Church. Several of the headstones were kicked over. A person leaving flowers at the grave of a loved one made the discovery and contacted authorities.
A shovel was also found on the scene. The perpetrator had appeared to be trying to dig up dirt over a coffin that had been there since the 1800s.
"I don't know how many families are up there, but somebody, they completely destroyed this cemetery," Trooper Hoyt Smith told MTN.
