LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky's Honor Flight program was set to fly 74 central Kentucky veterans to Washington, D.C., on Saturday morning.

The veterans of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars will get a chance to see the memorials built in their honor.

There are few WWII veterans remaining, and even the number of Korean and Vietnam war veterans is dwindling, so the Honor Flight organization is trying to get as many as possible to D.C. so they can have this all-expenses paid opportunity before it's too late.

"Took almost a year before they called. When I found out, I was thrilled to death," said Vietnam War veteran Charles Hall. "I know others who went on this trip, and liked it."

The return flight is scheduled for Saturday evening around 8 p.m.
