LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Hope Center is asking the community to add a few more items to their holiday shopping carts to help those in need.

“During this season of giving, we’re asking people to show their generosity to our homeless, veterans and those with family members in recovery,” said Carrie Thayer, director of development for the Hope Center. “Your gift might be the only one some clients receive this Christmas. Even one small gift will not only help keep someone warm this winter, it will be a reminder that Lexington is a caring community. When clients receive the new gifts, they are so grateful for them.”

The organization is specifically asking for the following:

· Long underwear

· Hats/gloves/scarves

· Coats

· Hoodies/sweatshirts

· Sweatpants

· Backpacks and duffle bags

· Bus passes

They are also asking for toys for children whose parents are in recovery. People also can visit hopectr.org, hit the donate button and designate that the donation is for the Christmas party. Staff will purchase needed gifts for the clients with these donations.
