DANVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — We are less than four days from Thanksgiving, and hundreds of meals are going to people and families in need this holiday season.

Gobble Gobble Give was held at the Danville Church of God on Sunday. The church gave away around 700 free thanksgiving meals this weekend.

This is the 8th year the community has come together to give back to those in need during the holidays.

The group used a professional rotisserie to cook more than 40 turkeys this year.

Because of the coronavirus, crews were limited and each stage of the process was held in a different room or building.

We spoke to the senior pastor to find out what it means to give back.

"I think we are sharing hope tonight. It may just be a simple thanksgiving meal but for some, it may be the only Thanksgiving meal they get during this season because of everything that's going on in the world," said senior pastor Bryan Montgomery.

Families were able to pick up their meal curbside. The organizers also delivered meals to nursing homes and first responders who couldn't make it.

Five churches came together to make this year's event happen.
