(LEX 18) — A nurse strike team from Kentucky is in North Carolina to help Hurricane Dorian victims.

The storm is expected to reach that area Thursday and linger into Friday. Mandatory evacuations have been ordered.

To help those who stay, the nurses will be working in local shelters and plan to be there for about two weeks.

The nurses will provide medical support to people displaced from their homes and in need of medical attention.
