(LEX 18) — The Kentucky Supreme Court has ordered a new trial for a Breathitt County woman convicted of murdering her roommate.

Imojean Daniel was convicted of the murder of Joy Turner in September of 2016. Relatives found Turner shot in the head inside a mobile home on Longs Creek Road.

Officials say Daniel initially told police Turner committed suicide, but the medical examiner ruled it a homicide.

The court issued the ruling based on several pieces of evidence, as well as a denial of funds to help Daniel hire an expert witness.
