HAZARD, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police are investigating after skeletal remains were found near a residential area Sunday afternoon.
Troopers said that they received the call of the discovery around 2 p.m. They responded to the scene on Chimney Rock Road. The remains were found in a wooded area near a home.
A positive identification has not been made and a cause of death has not yet been determined.
The remains were transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort where an autopsy is scheduled to be performed.
