GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police are investigating after stolen road signs were sold at a business in Graves County.

According to a release, the Kentucky Department of Transportation received a tip that some of their signs had been discovered at the business. The owner was unaware they were stolen and could not provide receipts of purchase from the previous owner.

A total of 89 road signs were seized. Property numbers on the signs show they belong to the Kentucky Department of Transportation, Paducah Public Works and the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

It is illegal to remove or deface signs that are purchased with taxpayer dollars.
